Description

Discover your passion for creating your own stamps! Carving stamps with your own designs is a useful skill to add to your “toolbox”. Hand-carved stamps are fun to use for greeting cards, envelopes or combined with your calligraphy. The hand-carved stamp is personal and carries the warmth and beauty of the hand that created it. The techniques that I use enable even a beginner to achieve success and carve very detailed images. No experience is needed, just enthusiasm!

Supplies

Please read this information carefully to select your CARVING BLOCKS. You’ll want 2 or 3 blocks to use in class. The MOO Carve Block is my favorite and it needs to be ordered online, so allow enough time for delivery. I list 4 types of carving blocks from which to choose.

  • MOO Carve Block, 4×6, (Amazon or MisterArt online) or
  • E-Z Cut Printing Block 4×6, (Blick Art Supplies on the web) or
  • Speedball Speedy-Cut 4×5.5 (white) or
  • Speedball Speedy-Carve 4×6 (pink)
  • X-Acto Knife with a new #11 blade
  • #1 (smallest) Speedball Linoleum Cutter blade (You do not need the special
  • Speedball handle that goes with the blade, simply put the #1 blade in a normal calligraphy pen handle)
  • Scrap paper (layout bond)
  • Tracing paper (a few sheets)
  • Pencil (any kind)
  • Stamp pad, at least one, any dark color (not StazOn brand)
  • Small cutting mat
  • Please bring some images that you might want to carve as stamps.
